Typical

The one evening in weeks that I plan to do something outside after dinner? THAT'S when it rains.

I FINALLY got around to pulling the wheel with the split tire off the riding mower and taking it in to be re-shod. Yes, that would be off the riding mower that has been parked in the same place since May, waiting for SOMEONE to come fetch it in to be fixed.

*SIGH*

Okay, so tomorrow I will put it back on, and then ride it to town and hand-deliver it to the repair shop. Then maybe I can at last mow down the pollen-popping weeds that have taken over the place.

In other news, we had clear skies last night for the eclipse, despite predictions otherwise. I didn't get any pics, because my camera just doesn't zoom in enough, and the moon was still pretty high and distant here around the totality point. But I did wake Mike up for the main show a little before 4 am, and we had a nice time sitting on the porch, watching the moon fade out as we swatted mosquitoes. (I'd thought it would be too cool out for them at that time, but I was wrong.)

To go along with the full moon fun, here is a neat link I ran across today. It's a little toy that looks like a set of antique classic books. But when you walk near it, the middle book slides forward as if pushed by a poltergeist!

Ooooooooo!

Speaking of books leads to words, and here's a difficult but fun word game, Etymologic. They claim to be the toughest word game on the web, and I believe them, because the best I've been able to score so far is 9 out of 10!
