Here he is!
My darn camera has been acting crazy, but I finally managed to get a picture of Caro's new baby sitting with his new pal Dreamcloud.
Note Tiger Jenny acting as the gorgeous spokesmodel cat.
We have tentatively named this car Nimbus, going from his color, Caro's interest in the Potterverse, and the cloud theme. Rather than being a Nimbus 2000, though, he is more of a Nimbus 95, plus he's a station wagon rather than a sports model. I told Caro she needs a bumper sticker that says Quidditch Mom.

Fall is official
I was carrying some stuff outside, and I heard it. Took me forever to spot them, they were so high up, but that shivery cry, over and over, is unmistakable.

Progress Report
This morning my good old friendly scale told me I was down to 246 pounds. Then I put on my good old friendly swim suit:
(Me about a month and 20 pounds ago)
which I do every Sunday to take my measurements. I was pleased to find I'd lost an inch and a half each off my waist and hips. That makes me a not especially svelte, yet symmetrical, 51-44.5-51.
After this upbeat start, the day went somewhat downhill. Just one example--Mike was roughhousing with Climber, which he has been repeatedly told NOT to do, because he can't calm her down if she gets too excited. Sure enough, she nipped his ear; just a scratch, but you know how extremities bleed. Hopefully this will make him THINK next time he is tempted to start up a wrestling match.
Although I'm pretty sure Climber was just being a typical playful cattle dog, I had to wonder if this wasn't one of those cases of dog/owner telepathy. Because I had been wanting to bite Michael all afternoon....

Cross Your Fingers
We MAY have a car snagged. It seemed like Lamar didn't really have exactly what we wanted, so today we made the 60 mile trek to La Junta and checked out a dealer there. In a strange coincidence, the car we found is also a Ford Escort (like poor deceased Golly), although it is three years younger, metallic taupe instead of white, and a little station wagon instead of a sedan. It's a one owner car with low mileage and we can get it with a 1 year warranty for under $4000. So we are strongly hoping the credit union will agree to finance it on Monday!

Yay for culture!
Last night Caro, Mike and I went to the Community Concert to hear Marcoux Corner, a newish, very hard-working a capella group. They're originally from Minnesota, and have so far opened for Sherri Austin and also the Beach Boys. (Mike briefly had the idea we were going to see the ACTUAL Beach Boys, but he got over his disappointment pretty quickly, and lobbied hard for us to buy the group's CD, which we did.) They did really good versions of mostly familiar songs from the 50's to the 80's, and I thoroughly recommend you go see them if you get a chance. Their web site is VERY graphics intensive, so if you have a slow connection or limited memory, beware. (Doug, this means you.)
