Roller coaster

Whew!

Yesterday was the opening of the semi-annual Lamar Friends of the Library booksale. We came home richer by hundreds of great books, but wiped out and in considerable pain.

As I was lounging in a really hot tub, sipping a well-deserved Fuzzy Navel flavored wine cooler, I realized part of why I was so happy despite the aches and pains was the feeling that the worst was behind us for a good long while.

Three weeks ago, when I started getting ready for the trip to Denver to pick up my trailer, was kind of like going up that first really big hill on a roller coaster. The past two weeks have been like going DOWN that hill--fun, but crazy and a little rough on the body, not to mention the nerves.

Now we are at the easier part of the ride--just as curvy and loopy, but not quite so downhill out of control at warp speed. I hope.

This is the kind of week it's been....

Basically, one dang thing after another and another and another and another....

I was just finishing up watering the new cement, thinking about another
nice little nap, when Caro hollered for me to come help! I'd just been
taking some pics of that project, so I had the camera handy.

She had been moving damp laundry into the dryer and he leaped up in her
face from underneath it. I don't think she actually washed him, I think he
was exploring and fell in.

For some reason Painty the cat totally refused to get down in the washer to
catch this mouse. I tried to grab it and got bitten (didn't break the
skin, don't worry). So sadly we were forced to get him out in the open by
starting the fill cycle, after which I grabbed him in a thick washcloth and
gave him to the outside cats. I mean, I like tame rats and mice, I
do. But wild invading mice are a problem and must be dealt with severely....

Yes, Caro re-washed the load of laundry afterwards.

Albino Fly?!

While Mike and I were working outside tonight, a really strange looking fly landed near us. It was really light colored, not QUITE white but with a mix of white and grey skin scales, so overall it was a light grey. The eyes were definitely red. I tried a google search and found this image, but unfortunately there is now a band from Kansas City called Albino Fly, so I got bored looking for actual fly info and gave it up.

Where's George? - Dollar Bill Tracking Report

Not sure how well this will work. But I am SO JEALOUS! One of my bills I entered into Where's George has been re-entered from the Virgin Islands! It's very sad how my money is better traveled and seems to have far much more fun than I do.

Happy Colorado Day!

Colorado, a proud member of the United States since 1876. Which is why we are the Centennial State. Yay us!

Deities help me

I bought Hair Products today. Some kind of shimmery purple goop that is (I think, darn label print is so small!) supposed to be both a hair moisturizer and style gel, plus a heavy duty hair conditioner in a little tube instead of a regular plastic bottle as nature intended. I totally blame the Fab Five.

More I should have said about them yesterday: Go to their web site and watch the five mini-commercials. Unless you don't WANT to be sucked in to their plans for world improvement, in which case better not.

Also, their show intro is one of the funniest I have ever seen. No lie.

SINBAD - Legend Of The Seven Seas

One of Mike's must see movies, so naturally we went. The plot is pretty much by the numbers, so don't go expecting a big shocker twist ending. The dialog was pretty funny, with some double entendres slipped in there for the older crowd, and some of the minor characters were fun enough that I wish we could have seen more of them. The big star of this is the TOTALLY outstanding animation. If you are even slightly awed by gorgeous top-notch imaginative thrilling visuals, go ahead and plop down the bucks to see this on a big screen. It won't be the same, renting the video. Rated: Four buckled swashes!
